Ah i see, i was confused about the socket/chipset. I understand now.

Do these boards support the quad CPU's?

I used have an ATi but changed to Nvidia and i must say I prefer the latter. But i like the sound of that Gigabyte motherboard. Hmmmm decisions!

Gigabyte GA-X38-DQ6 Intel X38
Samsung SM-2493HM 24" Widescreen

750W PC Power & Cooling Silencer Quad-Crossfire
Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme

Total is £2300, without Case/Speakers/OS/Drives which is upto you (be around £200-400)
honestly that sounds pretty spot on I would only change a few things like the Cases mentioned and motherboard.

I also think that splurging on parts doesn't future proof anything. And the newest parts are usually the worst due to revisions and such. But of course the new 45nm quads are where its at !
definitely get 2X2 GB.. that ocz set is nice, giving you room for 8. I dont really like OcZ because i think they are hardware slut whores, but thats my opinion.
Those Sapphire cards are amazing ! .. haven't seen how they overclock yet though, but definitely would keep you going for quite along time. I've had lots of ATI cards, but seem to still like Nvidia better.
I would suggest to buy soon, as everything is just changing ( to jump on it ), and parts are still cheap.

This mobo is a Beast.. If i could afford it.. i would. Unless you happen to want to spend $400 on the Asus maximus lol..

I have 2GB Buffalo FireStix at the moment, and I am really impressed with them. Does anyone know if they have brought out any newer (faster) modules lately?

That motherboard looks sweet, really sweet!! Read a review that said after 90 days they only repair the board and they wont replace it....which sucks.

I think the setup posted is awesome. Time to start buying I think! I am really undecided whether to stay with Nvidia or go back to ATI. Nvidia seem to be the kings at the moment!

So thats 1050GB total space. If you want less get the 4x raptors but change the 750's to 500's, which will give you 800GB Total space.

That mobo only supports cross fire not Sli, if you want Sli get a 780i board with 2x8800GTS.
I like the look of the EVGA nForce 780i SLI nForce 780i (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard.

The OCZ 4GB (2x2GB) RAM is pretty cheap, I'm suprised! I think I will go for that...........or has anyone got any comments about the Buffalo Firestix I mentioned?

Why would getting 2x8800GTS benefit over getting 2x8800GTX's? Is it just the saving on price, or am I missing something here?

Get 2x ATI HIS 3870X2 run them on the latest X48 chipset on the Asus rampage formula get a Q9450 and OC it to 4GHz on air. Then if ur getting a massive case (TT Xaser VI) as i would recomend for Crossfire get the thermalright IFX-14 its 3 degrees better than the TRUE

Would you not set up a RAID instead of just one HDD?

I know this is going to upset a lot of people but sound isn't really that important to me, as I usually use my headphones....so maybe down-grading the sound system a little bit could give me more cash to spend on something else? I'm not saying I dont want a sound system, as it would be nice to have one - just an idea?

EDIT: ah, I didnt see the x4 HDD's lol
