Computer Restarting in BF2.

Thread Starter
The last 2 times I have played BF2 lately my computer lockes up after a little while and restarts. I checked my BIOS as it was booting this last time and it said the CPU was at 54C. If it was this high after the restart than I can imagine it was pretty hot while playing. Any thoughts on this? I have some decent airflow in my case, but it's really hot out today and I don't have air conditioning.

My computer restarts also when playing a game, I found out it was too hot.

EDIT: Is your computer overclocked?

Do you have a small house fan that you can point into your case with the side panel off?

The small house fan is basically dedicated to the window of the apartment to cool the room were in.
I did take my small overclock off in hopes to reduce heat.
Ugghh, right now I'm sitting at 44C while idleing.

dont worry about those temps. guys, he's got a prescott

my bro idles at 62 with his celD pressy and loads at 78. for over a year

but if i were you i would get a better HSF for that CPU. i bet the stock INtel was better than that 'Foxconn 80mm" no offense.

umm, no...the foxconn is actually pretty nice it actually dropped the temps significantly from the stock HS+F from over 10 degress. I'm going to go back into BF2 and log my temps with speed fan to get a better idea of what it's loading at.

For me, I just completely took off my overclock because it was too hot, especially right now in the summer, and all my games work fine now. Just a suggestion to try.

I too have a Prescott and they are famous for running hot but they can handle it pretty good though. I sometimes get in the upper 60's in BF2 under load. What I would look at though is your graphics card overclock. You might want to lower it some.

GPU isn't overclocked, X1950Pros can't OC very well so I don't bother. What I noticed, after I took the OC off, my CPU got up to 60C after just playing BF2 for about 3 minutes.

Bf2 I believe in general is overclocking-unfirendly, especially on video cards. I crash out all the time, you'd think I 'd learn my lesson, hehe. Rarely though, do I have it reboot on me :S

However, when I run the Desert Conflict Mod, it never crashes out like it does in regular BF2, and I find I can have my vid card overclocked and stable. Still, many times when i try to disconnect from a server by hitting escape, the background menu video corrupts and locks up and my screen goes haywire. After manual shutdown/reboot i get the *recovered from serious error* courtesy of XP. o well, just have to alt+f4 to get out of the game and reload a new server.

yeah, just try to knock off some temps if possible in your entire system, and see fi that helps.
