First Overclock(Brisbane 64 X2 4000+)

Thread Starter
I seen a website where these guys overclocked an AMD Athlon 64 X2 4000+ 2.1GHz to 3.0GHz! This suprised me because it was the exact same processor as I had. So I thought what the hell and gave it a shot.

http://img355.imageshack.us/img355/3186/ocdi7.jpg

This is the first overclock I did and those are the settings that I have right now. I've been browsering the net and having prime95 running for about 30 minutes now so I'm assuming that it's stable. I want to get the 3.0GHz and my question is if I should increase my voltage to 1.4 instead of 1.3?

From what I heard, the Brisbanes can reach 3GHz with under 1.4v. Try going with 1.375v.

with 1.375 I get blue screen when I try to boot with 3.0GHz. It boots just fine with 1.4 but it runs a wee bit hot on when doing the prime95 torture test(about 65C) right now I'm running at 2.8GHz with about 55-58C with the torture test with 1.3 volts which is good enough for me for now.

I got mine up to 2887 with 1.3v and would maybe go less...right now I have it set at 250x10.5 at 1.2v and it's rock stable....

If you need voltage to hit 3G's your ram isnt set right...

Linkage to any goodness?

That's sweet. I cannot get my 4400 that high. run it at 2.6, had it a bit higher than 2.7 but not 100%. Hope it's consistent up there for you mate.

I doubt that's true, every other chip has to be different, and I need 1.45 volts to be stable at 2.91 - with my ram at DDR400 stock timings and 2.1v just to prove that

Yeah, depending on how good of a chip you get, results may vary. I got mine to 2.5 on stock running about 42c.
'bout time.
