Good idea! You should get the X1900GT which is 30 dollar less than its big brother and overclock to Pro speed

This is why I'm getting x1950XT's in CF and an X2 4400+. No need for more imo.

If an 8800GTX can barely handle DirectX 10 at 1280x1024 with 4xAA I don't even want it. I'll wait for the 9-Series Flagship to run at 1680x1050 (New Monitor!!).

To Poster's Above: I completely agree. I have a 7900GTX and cannot justify buying another more than a 1900/1950XTX or 7900GTX. I think that my 7900GTX is perfect, except for the HDR/AA problem.

Okay maybe a little.

I've actually be wanting to make some serious upgrades. The DX10 cards own DX9 land. But since they can barely run DX10, it makes literally no sense to upgrade right now, especially since my 1900s are still kick-ass cards. And since there are no true DX10 games available, it's even more pointless. Maybe Crysis will turn that around, but quite frankly, I don't think it will. If nothing else I'll get the DX9 version and I'm positive it'll run better than any DX10 system.

When the HD2900XT 1GB came out, I was REAL close to buying a pair of them. But, it would be pretty stupid to I think. I just hope something better comes out when the x38 motherboards debut cuz i want to make one final, huge system upgrade and be done with it.

(just seems everyone is recommending heavily that the 640mb is that much better, doesnt look like it here and you dont need it really for dx9)
Actually alot of the higher res benchmarks that I have seen really show the 640mb version to perform quite well against the 320, especially in SLI!

Exactly ElMike. Your X1900 CrossFire can still run any game at 1680x1050 very nicely paired with 2GB of Ram and a Core 2 Duo. The only real upgrade from them are 2 HD 2900's or 2 8800's and that would set you back $1000.

That's what I thought until I got the 8800 and discovered how crappy my volt modded 7900gt really was!

Any games utilizing quite a bit of HDR stressed the hell out of that card, the 8800 tackles them with ease.

To top it off, I am still not satisfied with the performance of the 8800, I still see some major slowdown in games like Lost Planet, or even in the new Insurgency Mod for HL2 I noticed some slowdown. It is barely able to run Dirt at high settings at a decent framerate, I could surely use more power.

Actually the 1900s run very nicely at 1900x1200 with maxed settings

Youre about the upgrades tho. I'd love to have either set up, but right now just isnt the best time.
