It will be at least 2-3 more generations of hardware before we see an exlusive title.
In games like Bioshock and Crysis, DX10 is being used to enhance effects like water and smoke, and in some cases lighting. There isn't going to be this huge difference, just little enhancements... I have read an interview with one of the Bioshock developers that they are designing the game to run at 30fps+ on current gen high end hardware... same goes for Crysis it appears.
These initial DX10 titles are obviously not well coded. Look at the broad range of hardware HL2 runs on and looks absolutely beautiful... the source engine is a masterpiece IMO.
I am very confident I will get at least 25-30fps maxed @ 1680x1050 on the first round of well coded
DX10 titles... remember people, not all games are well written. Look at Stalker and RB6V if you need examples. Lost planet planet and COJ fall into the same category.
People have always paid big bucks to squeeze out that extra bit of eye candy... even if DX10 didn't exist and the 8800's were DX9 only cards they still would have sold boatloads. You all know it.
