Pentium D 805 - Page 2

That makes sense. Glad to hear that we troubleshooted my rig effectively too! I was figuring it was the PSU, but my temps were pretty high. Though the temps weren't high enough for it to restart or freeze. Thanks for the help, I'll be doing that pin mod tonight since it's just one pin and thats a good OC for such little work.

Agreed..and check to see if your NB temps are going past 50c...you can use SiSandra or Everest to check. If so..you might consider some 'active' NB cooling. A small 40mm keeps my NB from passing 39c no matter what NBv or FSB.

Try running orthos and ati tools stress test at same time see if your pc freezes or reboots that would stress the cpu and video cards and you could watch it easyer.

If you get around a 700W PSU..you should have plenty of extra voltage to play with...Silverstone make excellent PSU's...I own both the STF650 and the 750...4 x 12v rails and plenty of extra power for OC madness!!

*your CPU draws about the same amount of power as my Q6600 does..so a new PSU is a good piece to have for future upgrades anyhow. H20 will do wonders for that furnace of a cpu too! Your definitely going to need it to maintain a 4ghz clock.

That will for sure let you know if you have a PSU issue...your load will be as high as it should ever get, using that method...just watch the voltages and make sure to stop the test immediately if you see them dip to unsafe levels..you dont want to blow something...yes under-volting is just as dangerous as over.
