Just wondering because i can pick up 8600gt's for quite cheap at a local store, just wondering if adding another one would make much difference @ 1440x900 res.

how much t local store? what make?

most likely running them sli if your board will run both at 16x it will run better. but your psu needs to be able to handle it as well

yes! Would having a hole in your head make your brains fall out? Of course it will improve the FPS...thats the whole point of SLi...

ive got 30 amps on my 12v so should be able to handle 2 8600's.
PAid 80 for my xfx once, but can get cheaper makes for about 70.

I know that sli should improve, but the main reason im asking is because i heard sli doesnt make much difference at low resolutions such as 1440x900.

Has anyone tried sli 8600's?

yeah, at HIGHER resolutions Sli wins out. if you game at 1024*786 or lower, even with AA and AF, it's not worth getting sli, its better to get a BEtteR single card, and cheaper too,

but if you do 1280*1024 or higher with AA and AF, it "MIGHT" be worth the money if you can get them for REALLy cheap.. but how much will you have paid for the two Gt? u sure u cant's sell the GT you have and get your hands on a gts for cheap on newegg? (getting mine soon, in the mail, counting the minutes...)

well if i do buy another 1 ill have only paid 150 for the 2, and a 8600gts is about 140.

What would be better , 2 gt's or 1 gts?

I really cant afford to be going into the 8800 range at the moment.

30A * 12v = 360W available 12v power...that is being used for your CPU, mobo and GPU...your gonna be close if you go SLi.

Higher resolutions would gain more from SLi than lower resolutions. If you want lower res game play to increase..get a better cpu.

Two 8600GT will probably be better than a single 8600GTS because the 8600gts struggles at high resolutions with aa and af. Technicaly there shouldnt be a choice for a gamer for ANYTHING below an 8800gts

It s better to get a cheaper DX9 card like a 7900gt for now on ebay or amazon or something for around 120$ US than it is to get an 8600gt(120$) 8600gts(150$).

I just realized this after reading HUNDREDS and HUNDREDS of reveiws benchmarks and voltmods on the 8600gt and 8600gts and the two are preety much at the level of a 7600gt but cant keep up with it at anything higher than 1024*786
