How many Amps is optimal for my rig?

forget future proofing and e-penising

anyway, I just want to know how many Amps would be optimal for my sig rig on the 12V rail. After many ppl respond i will tell you what i have now, tis a bit scary but for some reason its held my E6400 at 3.6GHz and 1.45VCore 24/7!!! its on ALL the time; and the rest of my rig.

anyway, for the duration of this my PSU will be hidden for prejudiced reasons

after 15 people respond with recommended Amp rating on the 12V then i will reveal the thing that is powering it fine for now...

I'd say with that video card around the 20-25 mark. 30 to be safe, but mine only has 30A and it's powering my GPU which is pretty powerful

That 7600GT doesn't need a lot of amps and those C2D are energy efficient so yeah probably about 26 to 32 amp would be good if you plan to keep your graphic card forever.

I highly reccomend this PSU here:

yeah 30 amps should be fine for that rig

well its running fine with a 22A low quality PSU

thats folding 100% 24/7....

my cpu overclocked is 158W
gpu overclocked is ~80W peak

so i need about 240W continuous
my psu only has 268

and i have fans on the 12V as well...PCI draw from it as do hd's and opticals

so idk how it works but it does

$30 echo star 680W with 22A on 12V rail FTW

DOn't get a cheap PSU.

Go with 35-40 amps for upgradeabilty and (so) if you get new rig/ high-draw card you will not have to upgrade again.

Otherwise I agree with EVERY post above

i agree as well. dont fall for the cheap prices. get a good psu with about 40a. my corsair hx520 cost me $105 w/ tax and shipping. got it in less than 24hrs. and definitely worth it if you are looking to upgrade.

Um a 7600GT and c2D will run on around 20-25 amps however a good 30 amp PSU is a nice safe point.
