lol im confused. so the computer only boots with one stick? did you try both stick? are both sticks guaranteed working?

also in order to run dual channel, for most manufactuers (not msi), use the same color slots, stick one in the orange slot, and the other in the other orange slot. leave the back ones empty.

refer to your manual to see which one is channel a and which one is channel b, you want to utilize only 1 channel.

Sounds like one of the sticks is bad.

You can change the speed in BIOS. My p5wdh recognizes my ram as PC4300, I just switched it to 6400 in the bios.

You must manually configure the ram while in the same color slots. If ram doesn't work in the same color slots, then you have other issues.

ok ok hold on, lets start from the top!.

1) insert only 1 stick in to slot 1 (dimm 1 or 0)
2) go into the bios and set the ram setting to auto IF you have that option. if you don't set it to ddr2 800, and set the timing to 4-5-4-15
3) start up the computer and run cpu-z does it verify that it is ddr2-800 ?
4) turn the computer off
5) go back to step 1 and this time change the stick with the 2nd stick then repeat up to step 3.

now if we have verified that both stick are working as pc 6400 (ddr2-800)

if one of them doesn't then its bad. DID u buy it used? did you buy from some unknown seller? if its bad and you can RMA it then do it.

IF both stick are good and you have verified that come back and post.

Pros: All around great product with a great feature set. The MB header connectors for the case wires are a great idea. Utilities for MB monitoring and overclocking are pretty decent.

Cons: Audio is shakey, documentation on audio configuration lacking, used OCZ PC2-6400, but only recognizes it as 5300. ASUS website and BIOS update tool worthless. Board came with BIOS rev 1604, though a newer rev exists, can't find it on ASUS website or with the ASUS BIOS update tool

Other Thoughts: Still a great product.

i found the SOLUTION to your PROBLEM

reading some reviews on newegg can help. here's what one said:

Ram does not auto detect over 667 speeds, you have to actually toggle manual settings and adjust it (voltage, timing, speed, etc.)

so now goto your ram settings, and set them manually, to ddr2-800 / pc6400 and set the voltage to 2.1 and set the timings to 4-5-4-15

then it should work
