Still, I strongly suggest you get on to your ISP and make some fuss. When I first signed up for 8 Meg, I started getting less than 2 Meg too (which was lower than I was previously getting with my 2 Meg package) so I called them, found out they were a bunch of lying, ignorant morons, made a fuss for 20 minutes or so and, within two weeks, I was getting 4 Meg in the day and upwards of 6 Meg at night, going right up to almost 8 Meg in the early hours of the morning.

Let them know you're not happy with less than a 1/4 of what you're paying for. Sure, you might never get the full 8 Meg, but consistently less than half speed is totally unacceptable imo.

Highly-Annoyed

well i call them they said they did a like test, and said that everything is fine on their side and made me do a speed test on my side from www.btopenworld.com/speedtest, and the medium file downloaded in 14 secs at round 300KB/s, which they claim is to be fine, i complained about the speed not being more than 2mb/s and they said well u r not buying the speed blah blah which really pissed me off, i also asked that if i bought 2mb/s i would still get the same speed, first she said yes then she said u r not buying the speed, which i didnt understand, i got sooo fustrated i didnt know wat else to say to her, so i just said ok watever and then weended it there. i might call again maybe to get some1 on the other end who know wat they are talking about. if i wasnt in a contract with them i would end the service, any advice on how to explain, and prove i have slow speeds with out using their speed test site? a result they would accept to be valid and not find excuses.
