the only thing that I've ever done that speeds up windows was install 2k3 as my windows desktop

I think hes trying to make windows load as little as possible, just so he can access his games and they wont be bogged down by windows as much as possible.

Basically windows, just for games, strip everything else out.

//edit I dont know if this is possible but it would be sweet.

I've used it before. Doesn't create a list of games or hide the taskbar unless you make it do that though. It basically reboots your computer and in the process turns off all the services and eye-candy in XP that aren't used to login, game, etc. It will mess up your computer though if you are unable to restart via it's little interface.

I'll start looking for it but I can't remember the name right now.
