E4300, E6600 or E6420??

post #1 of 38
Thread Starter
I cant decide which to go for!!!!!!!

E4300=very good OCing but only 2mb cache
E6420=4mb cache, higher stock speed
E6600=4mb cache even higher stock speed

Is this or should this be a no brainer???
My mind says 6600 just because, but are there any pro's for the others??

Really only gaming use and browsing. Should all be a good upgrade from my Pentium D 820!

Come on guys, make my mind up for me!!!

E6420 hands down. Use the money you saved on something else. They can OC to speeds just as good as E6600s from what i have seen. I have a Big Typhoon, Arctic Silver 5, and bad case airflow and im at 3.4ghz with max temps around 55-57 under stress testing.

I'm with the E6420 as well. Though nick, your RAM will prevent you with a good overclocks.

I hope you don't mind me asking a question in your thread.

If I were trying to cut cost as much as I can, and had no real desire to OC to above 3.5ghz... would the E4300 be a good choice?

I'm happy with my E4300. 3.15GHz for cheap.

Trying to squeeze my chip (E6300) over the 3GHz mark was a challenge, and a worthy one at that. I decided to leap up to the E6600 and push for 3.6+ on air I'd say go for the E6600 if you can afford it, or the E6420 if you'd like to keep to a budget.
