It probably also keeps the power stable when overclocking, but this I'm definitely not sure of.
Btw, my score went up from 11118 to 11497 going from 800/1000 to 850/1000. I've yet to increase the memory. I just don't feel confident oc'ing the card through AMD GPU Tool. =S

I did not OC the RAM on the 1 GB I got either--I was afraid.
Rivatuner works on this card NP.
I was linked and read the info on how to use ATI Tool but did not get there as Vista will not let ATI tool run lol.
I think the DDR3 cards are hotter running than the 1GB cards.
1Although the benchmarks may be colse in the long run I would say the 1 GB cards will prove themselve to be worth that extra Benjamin.
I don't regret having a pair of 512s...that saved me $200 and I still get the satisfaction of CF
