My 9600XT.... is on crack?

Soooo this came to a shock to me...

I have been playing BF2142 a lot recently and was running it at the lowest settings and getting playable framerates (30-40 fps most of the time). Then just for fun I tried boosting up the effects to maximum. Same fps. Then, I tried boosting the geometry. Same fps. This kinda baffled me so just for fun I set my settings to this:

I suspected terrain would be the biggest drop in FPS and I don't care how the ground really looks when I'm shooting people.

The game ended up to look like that, and it was much to my liking (sorry about JPGs)

I know the grass looks pretty bad, but the bomb is incredibly detailed as well as the explosion. (FPS in the bottom left corner)

That was basically the lowest the FPS got to, but IMHO it is still very playable because it's only for a second.

Like, I don't understand how my 3 year old card can produce such beauty.

These turrets own really hard, and the reflection just goes to show it's also worth looking at them instead of not dying.

Hehe this was actually a really close match, probably because I spent my time trying to take screenies .

My Sapphire 9600XT is clocked at 545.4/334.8 with stock everything. I am going to go try to see how far I can go without getting under 20 fps. Wish me luck!

I am really sorry if I posted too many pictures, they are all externally hosted and are less than 100 kb each so 56k'ers shouldn't have too much trouble.

LONG LIVE THE 9600XT!!!!

I have the EXACT same card. DO you have the one thats blue or red?

That core can hit 600 easily with a cheap COMpusa cooler. Also that memory is rated at 330 but clocked at 300

Nice

My FX 5500 could play it at around 20-30 FPS on low settings at 1280x1024

If you're going to spend $20 on a cooler (if it was $5 like poor said, I'd go for it) might as well get the VF-700LED for $25 on the 'egg. Leaps better.
2 OP pls nerf

it was 5$ from my friend (he neede the ramsinks). But that is a good point. But I don't believe that that cooler fits on the card due to the capacitor locaion ( i was considerind it for awile)

Only 9600XTs that the VF700 doesn't work with is the Unitech, SPARQ, and AIW versions/brand

As of when?

Saphire updated the design.

I just looked at mine and there is DEFINITLY a capacitor in the way (if you mounted it up).

Since the VF700 came out. They are official Zalman site if you wanna double check me.

The VF700 uses the stock mounting holes. It's not a big cooler at all.
