This sounds good. We have a xbox360 that has the 3 red light problem and its just been sitting for almost a year now doing nothing but collecting dust. I just hope it hasnt been 3 years, but I dont think so. Hopefully they still have the receipts and the warranty papers! Can you get this done even if you dont have the receipt/warranty papers? Thanks guys!

What an odd and rare case. My PS2 didn't break in any way until about a year and 6 months after having it, and it stopped reading disks properly. I sent it in and they sent me a new system (or a refurb with a different serial number) within 10 days. Haven't had a problem since.

I think the problem I can foresee, as I posted in the other thread, is that people WITHOUT the 3 red light problem that are still having issues with their 360's will no longer be covered by the warranty.

Sorry...just asking for a second opinion on exactly what this truly meant...I may have missed some fine print. But this is great news. I never bought any warranty at all. Now I'm covered IF mine breaks.

I have a feeling that a receipt won't matter. You own the thing, and if the serial number is still on the system and it hasn't been opened...you're good. Also, the way I read it (and others as well as I see), it doesn't matter if you had a warranty or not, if you own a system, you have a warranty.

I would feel bad, but as others have pointed out already, this isn't going to dent Microsoft.
