Terrible performance with C2D/P5K in Crossfire - Page 4

Hi binormalkilla, ive tried using driver cleaner but not in safe mode, so ill try that tonight.

i got a response from asus and they gave me some crap response like:

1. make sure u have xfire cards
2. u have a ps that gives enough juice
3. u run windows

all of which i told them i have already and that the cards used to work in my old machine.

have u given overclocking a serious go? i've got my e6300 up to 3.6ghz but wasnt stable. theres a pencil mod out if ur interested

thanks

Nah I won't mod the motherboard. I really didn't spend much time on it yet. I just tried 320 FSB with a 1:1 divider, saw it was stable in Orthos for an hour, then upped the VCore and FSB to 333, stable in Orthos, changed the divider to 4:5 for DDR833, voila! I'm going to check for stability and see if I can go higher after I get back from a trip. I have to go install some hardware in this flower shop, and I'll be away from my PC for a week!
About DC Pro:
You HAVE to run it in safe mode or you will totally bork some files. I would bet that's why you're having trouble enabling Crossfire.

ah ok, what i did the first time around was uninstall all things ATI related from the add and remove program from the control panel the run Driver cleaner straight after.

well ok, i hope doing it in safe mode works. i was getting bummed down after spending a whole night trying the get it to work.

BTW the mod is a simple pencil mod connecting 2 points i believe. i'm gonna give it a go once i get my xfire sorted

thanks

Is the pencil mod is to allow less VDroop, or is it for move VCore max? If the latter...wow no thanks! There is already enough VCore to nuke a CPU on water!
Anyhow, this is the correct way to uninstall the ATI drivers.
Add/Remove Prog menu, click ATI software uninstall utility
reboot into safe mode
run DC Pro for every single ATI entry
run a registry cleaner such as regsupreme pro
run DC Pro again (catches stuff again for some reason)
reboot and install the driver again.

Oh yea make sure you're running Windows effing ASUS tech support

Here are some interesting comparisons. Anandtech rules!

Here's some ownage I'm on remote desktop so that's why it looks weird.

YEa I'll put the ones that I can think of ATM:
FSB 333
Memory DDR833 (4:5)
VCore 1.4500V (ends up 1.315 after VDroop)
On the CPU section disable everything except the last two things
Set the CPU ratio (CPU multiplier..) to manual, 9
I have my timings at 4-4-4-12 @ 2.25V (memory is rated at this)
This thread has some good info.

Are you sure your VDroop is not to 1.4315? That is a massive vdroop if it really does drop to 1.315 from 1.450. Do you have the CPU Voltage Dampering Enabled in the bios. On the P5K-Deluxe, that should replace a need for a pencil mod, and should remove most all the vdroop.

binormallkilla,

I oced the same mobo and cpu. If you check out this thread, you can see the setting I used. You should be able to get more speed with that vcore, or drop the vcore and keep that speed.

http://www.overclock.net/2339916-post2.html

There are a number of different speeds with all the setting I used.
