Terrible performance with C2D/P5K in Crossfire - Page 5

Actually I was mistaken, I get 1.4160V in AISuite. I'm not sure where I got that number...must have been with a lower VCore.
Thanks man, I didn't even mess with any of the more precise voltages, only the VCore.

Hi there thanks for the bios info, i managed to get xfire working now after installing the 7.5 drivers instead and it ran without compaints.

the dampner option in the bios for the p5k doesnt do anything apparently, but the pencil mod changes that and allows for less vdroop.

for example, i havent dont the mod and these are the readings i get in windows:
vcore in bios: 1.4315v
vcore in windows at idle: 1.368v
vcore in windows during orthos: 1.296v

so as you can see vdroop on this board is quite abit...

And how are you measuring this? If you're doing it with software you might as well throw it right out the window. Software monitoring is pretty much worthless. I'm not sure why everyone takes it as infallible truth.

Evidence that software monitoring sucks:

please feel free to call me nub, then tell me why vdroop is such a bad thing. since i know i'm going to lose .02 Volts, i can just set my voltage accordingly. i don't see how that is a problem. my VCore is steady - it's not like it fluctuates or anything.

@ Ihatethedukes, yup im using software to messure this, so yes the readings are probably wrong and should be taken with a pinch of salt. (using cpuz for it if ur interested)

@ MrBungle, as u can see im new the these forums and im no pro at overclocking myself, but i would believe that vdroop is certainly not a good thing.

for example, if one was to know that a board droops say 0.05v on load and so compensates for this by adding an extra 0.05v, im guessing that it is possible that ur chip to not like the extra volts and be unstable or wouldnt post at all.

anyways why would asus implement the dampner feature if vdroop wasnt a problem?

Interesting....I wonder how you can enable Crossfire with the 7.5s? Well I guess it's the internal Crossfire solution since it's newer. The DNA drivers are pretty good for the 7.5 version

*** I just played a titan match of BF2142 with no AA, and only maxed in game AF (which is only 4X I think)....and it was totally unplayable when I got inside the enemy titan. It was totally empty too, and I used to get ~35-70 FPS in TItan mode.
ATI really needs to hook up the P35 chipset on this next set of drivers, or I'm RMAing this motherboard as soon as the X38 arrives. Sheesh.
It was the weirdest lag I've ever seen. I was getting decent FPS, then MASSIVELY low FPS, which ended up being about 10-15 FPS. However, I had a higher max FPS than my older system .
Weird, and I miss my favorite game. Now I guess I'll stick with BF2/HL2.

Yeah, loading all the textures and whatnot at the Titan always gives me a momentary pause of low framerates at 16x12 6x/16x. But it quickly returns to playable. Sorry about your chipsets guys, you gotta expect these things with brand new hardware.

Yea I know.....it's all good. I'm sure that new drivers will help a lot. Here's a CSS bench:
I had them at default settings, which were auto detected at everything on high, except AF and AA (4x). I set HDR on too I think.... can't remember, I"m tired!
