QX6850 quad core listed

Intel plans to reveal its FSB 1333 generation and only one of them is a Quad core clocked at 3 GHz and with a TDP of a dangerous 130W.

It is a boxed version and it comes with a cooler and we don’t know how Intel plans to justify almost four time bigger price to dual core E6850 that works at the same clock speed, just have two cores.

Well there is always someone who wants a high end only and I guess these are the people that Intel aims but the biggest trouble that I see is that there is no much cases where you can prove that quad core is the right way. Only in rendering and encoding you can really see the difference and more than 90 percent of users won't be doing that.

Although this chip is too ridiculous to ever really hit the mainstream market and is pretty much irrelevant in the current struggle, it does show that the quad cores scale well. I can't say that I saw a Core based quad hitting 3GHz stock at this point in time - I would have thought it would take another year at least.

130W is less than the 150w my QX6800 put out
so there is an improvement there and this is 3ghz compared to 2.93

Well I bought the QuadGT MB so that I could upgrade in the future. I have been thinking lately that I may never see the day when I buy a quad core. Mainly in part due to the irrelevant use of them. I guess multi tasking is great but not for the cash.

So explain to me how a TDP of 130 is a "dangerous TDP"? all of the powerful AMD fx 62, 70, 72,74 chips at 125, the current quads were 125 and now 105, and the pentium D's were 125 as well!

This chip is an enthusiasts chip which will most likely be cooled via high end air or water, not by an el cheapo stock Intel heatsink.

i love quad core, yesterday i backed up my computer, ran a virus scan, listened to some XM in media center, and still had plenty of power to play games, all at the same time.

There are other ways of 'using' a Q4...most users will be through a computing change, as they dont multitask enough to need a Q4. Its an experience, just figuring out..."I dont need to wait until its finished, I can do that right now, while doing that..and that...and that..WoW, Im only at 70% useage..still!" If you use your computer for simultaneous programs and heavy multitasking..you will definitely notice, when you upgrade to a Q4.

What's the point??? AMD doesn't even have any quad-cores out and the ones that they plan to have out aren't even running anywhere near as fast. Just to add insult to injury to AMD?
