Opteron 185 wont go further...

Hi all,

my brother got a Opti 185 for his rig and now that CPU wont oc past 3.06GHz ...

His Rig:
Opti 185 with TT BigTyp VX
DFI Lanparty UT NF3 Ultra
Corsair DDR400 C2 2x 512MB rev. 5.2 (goes up to 292MHz)
XFX 7900GS AGP
Enermax 465AX 460W (3.3v = 35A, 5v = 35A, 12v = 33A)

Bios settings:
vCore: 1.500v
vDimm: 2.9v
HT @ 4x
HTT @ 235MHz
Multi @ 13x
AGP @ 67MHz @ 1.6v

We got that Opti up to 235 x 13 and runs toatlly stable!
If we set 236MHz in bios we just get CMOS checksum errors or nothing so we have to reset CMOS!

Any idea how to get more out of this Opteron?

Thanks for your help!

Is he willing to use more vcore or is 1.5v the personal limit?
I used to do a lot on DFI Street as well until it got shut down but I managed to dig this up, may prove to be helpful.

Here is a link within that post about "checksum errors" as well.

What about AGP speed? Try raising it to 67 or 68, that's what the guide says for it to be stable.

I read that guide 3 times to understand all!
I tested AGP up to 70Mhz but no luck and I played around with vcore up to 1.550 in bios... that thing wont go any higher!

idle temp (read out with Core temp 0.94 with 1.500v)
Core0: 21C, Core1: 23C

load temp
Core0: 44C, Core1:45C

with temps like that you can try 1.6, maybe it will atleast boot. You might need better cooling to run at that though. I know those chips can handle 1.6 with enough cooling.
