Durrrr, raptor's are faster.
Lol how can you say faster when comparing MPG's? It's like saying my table's slower than your chair.

If Raptors were better i'd own them....ppl on this site recommend hardware because someone else says it's great and it's a chain reaction. Same for DDR2 recommendations, ppl recommending overclockable D9 memory but 100's of ppl can't get it in their head that high FSB means nothing on the latest chipsets.
Well actually my best performance on the P965 and P35 chipset is at higher fsb. I can run the same 4.0ghz at 445x9 or 500x9 with the ram at 1:1 or with the ram running at 560mhz with the 445 fsb and its allways the 500fsb that beats it out. I have run tons of benches and in overall real world feel 500 wins. I run 500fsb 24/7 also. Now if you wanna say that poeple recommend ram say HZ over everything else because they heard it was great then that is true because there are alot of ram out there that perform just as well but many just wont accnowledge it.

Kind of off topic.sorry about that just wanted to straighten it out.

Now as far as the raptors I have two 74g ones that I have run in raid0 before and they performed faster then anything I have since run. Even 4x250 in raid 10 which isnt the best comparison but itll have to do. And it really beat out my 2x250wd in raid 0. Mainly in load times for games and loading windows.

Not if you turn the table upside down. Then it'll be much faster in the downhill race as the chair will fail over and... Enough of that silliness, though.

Anyone that says "I can't see how people use so much space on their harddrive, I only use 40gb/80gb/150gb and that's all!" you OBVIOUSLY aren't backing up ALL of your data (twice, if you're smart, on three different drives). If you're backing up all of your data and you're barely using anything then perhaps large harddrives aren't for you? Maybe YOU should stick with a small harddrive?

And if you want to pay as much as I could pay for a harddrive that was nearly ten times the size and roughly the same preformance (the difference in preformance between the 74gb raptor and any of the newer 750gb+ harddrives that seem to be getting faster and faster) then that's fine. I'm a pack rat and like having at least two levels of backup.

it's true. table > chair.

I had a 7200 rpm drive before I bought my raptors for raid, and I still say that I made a great choice. I paid $200 for 150gb, and I love the speed. My windows usually loads in 2.5-3 bars, and in games Im usually one of the first people in the map. I know with BF2 I certainly was, minutes before the rest in some cases. I certainly dont consider my purchase an utter waste of money.

This argument is pointless. There are about 10 different threads regarding the fastest drive and here we are arguing the same topic.

If you want raw speed and have $$$$ to spend, go for the raptors.
If you want price/performance, go for the Seagate 7200.10 (or .11 in a couple months).

And just leave it at that
