the 3800 isnt 65nm technology. The 65W just means that the CPU only draws 65Watts from the powersupply on stock volts. All AMD 65nm X2 processors go by the Brisbane Core, from the 3600+ to the 5000+. Good Luck!

Actually I think he was asking whether the Windsor(90nm) is as good of an OC'er as the Brisbane(65nm). As far as I've heard, The Windsors are good OC'ers but not quite as good as the Brisbanes, although some say different.

One advantage though of the Windsor, is that its onboard memory controller has tighter timings than the Brisbane, giving slightly better performance per clock than a Brisbane at the same speed. I guess they had to loosen them to raise yields for the 65nm process. The only Windsor you want to steer clear of is the 3600+, it only has 2x256k cache while the Brisbane 3600+ has 2x512mb.

I wouldn't be too worried personally, but these AMD chips are so cheap nowadays if it stinks you can probably sell and get a 3600+ Brisbane for like $20 out of pocket anyways.

Higher temps and possibly worse overclocking depending on the stepping.

Probably 2.6-2.8. More if you're lucky and get a good stepping.

No way, the brisbanes really do O.C. better by far. I have owned 2-3 of each. That 3800 MIGHT do 2.7, doubt it. 2.5-2.6 is what you should expect. I had a 4600 windsor that would only do 2.9. All of my windsor and Brisbanes are lower than the 4600. None of the windsors beat any of my 3 3600 brisbanes. My 4600 @ 2.9 matched my worst 3600 Brisbane O.C.

2.5-2.6

but stepping matters the most
