Will this dual motor fan idea work??

like the 220CFM big delta, which says its half as loud as its single motor delta (59dB opposed to 65dB)

i thought, the FM121 is 110CFM max.

so put them in series with a ~4-5 inch gap between them for maximum airflow and no detrimental effects due to deadspots...

they are 39.5dB each, so two of them are

B=10log(I/10^-12)

plug in 39.5dB for B and get 8.9 X 10^-9 W/m^2for I
double this and get 1.78X10^-8 W/m^2
put this back in and solve for B
you get 42.5dB!!! MUCH less loud than the delta.

would this work? would i get ~220CFM at max?

how does the dual motor delta work then? inside the housing you see two separate motors attached to separate fan blades

they have a single motor that does 220. its about the RPM mostly. the second motor, or in your case the second fan, only increases pressure, which makes it good for restrictive rads and such. though normally you would use 2 normal fans in push/pull.

I would think you will see a slight diff, but prob... would get better cooling from the fans if used seperatly. Keep in mind, if you added 1 more fan, you should hear no db increase. Put all the math aside, and realize that the average human ear hears in 3db steps. In order to gain 3db you will need to double the fans, so from 1 to 2 fans you should see about a 3db gain, but the next 3db gain would be 4 fans, then 8 fans, and so on.

they ALSO have a thicker dual motor fan which is two separate fans in one tunnel like housing, it cuts the noise in half OVER the single motor 220CFM. therefore i knew they had a single motor 220, this is different....thanks though so it would increase pressure but not CFM. rep+ to you
