Which GPU Would You Reccomend and Why?

Here are my choices:

7900 GS OC (BFG)

x1950 PRO (ASUS)

Which have more stable drivers, run games better, etc.

My specs will be: ASUS P5K, C2D E6750 (Waiting till July 22nd), 2GB Ballstix (Dual Channel) 600W Antex PSU.

Looking for opinions, as they are the same price.

I also have the option of the 8600 GT. But I am not interested in Vista nor DX10 as of yet and people told me to stay away from the 8600 GT compared to these cards.

I 'think' that the ATI x1950 would be better...

The ATi. And yes, steer away from the 8600GT. It may be DX10 capable, but its really not that good otherwise.
'bout time.

Everyone is telling me that the x1950 has slightly better performance

Although

Nvidia has better drivers, works better for more games, better picture quality, etc. And that the 7900 is more reliable because of less power consumption and heat.

Is this true? because if the difference is miniscule then I may go with the 7900.

The X1950 actually has slightly better image quality. However, the 7900GS can be overclocked to hell and back.

Honestly I'd try the 7900 GS and go for volt mod, because the x1950 Pro's don't overclock very well at all. And that's coming from an ATI guy...
I wouldnt say 7900 is more reliable, it i believe , has less power consumption and less hot, but even then Ati is equally reliable, both of them work fine for all games ( to the best of my knowledge ) , and Ati because it allows HDR+AA while Nvidia 7xxx series do not ( iirc ) will have better quality...

Would the x1950 go better with my system or do they perform better with an AMD cpu. If that is what it may come down to.

Once again specs are:

Asus P5K
C2D E6750 (July 22nd)
2GB Ballistix Dual Channel 800
600W PSU

It's Intel+Nvidia & AMD+ATI correct? Haha.

you need to fill out your system specs so we know what you're working with. the 1950 is a better card, but consumes more power. you need a decent power supply to run it. if your PSU is up to snuff, i'd go for the 1950.
