What use will the GPU be looking at? I guess it'll be for games at least but some games work better with ATI than nVidia and vice versa.

However, if I were you I'd have a look at the x1950xt. Here in the UK you can pick one up for about the same price as a x1950pro (or with some retailers about £5-£10 difference - which is about $10-$20) The cheapest x1950xt here is £105 ($210) delivered.

yeah, if you could swing the XT, but they have even less overclock potential. They don't really need the overclocking though anyway.

if you are grabbing 6600 in 3DMark 06 with your volt modded GS, definetly get that. I think overclocked x1950 Pro's get maybe high 5xxx's or something, not sure of the XT. I know 3DMark shouldn't be compared to "real-world" game benching, but that is pretty impressive right there.

I'm not sure, but I think most manufacturers have worked the overheating out. Was there other issues?

7900GT with a 1.5v vmod.

Been running mine for like 6 months or so ... and with the right cooling ... it's really nice.

I won't be upgrading until Feb or Mar of 2008 ...

Not too sure, but one the of main problems were the VRM not being cooled properly and causing all sorts of problems.
