Ok i know for Sli you need the same type of GPU and im rite now considering the 8800GTS 320mb but down the road i might want to SLi it, but by then prices will have dropped so is it possible to Sli an 8800GTS 320mb with an 8800GTS 640mb?

I thought you would be able to sli 640 and 320 because they're the exact same card except for the memory. This isn't true?

they need to be the same, but two cards like that in SLI will give you 640 MB of video memory. that is more than most people need.

Nope, not true. You can SLI 320 with 320 or 640 with 640.

It will work with different bios memory size and speed but the faster card will work at the slower cards mem speed.

This is great in theory but I always find if you don't buy the cards together pretty early. future single cards get fatser than your proposed sli setup. I've had this happen twice so far.

two 320 MB cards will give you 640 MB total. unless you have a 30" monitor, i think that is more than enough.

Why isnt it possible though everything that i read so far says that all u need is the same gpu, the extra memory on the 640 shouldnt affect teh transfer of data on teh sli bridge
