Umm. I haven't read the rest of the topic, but just reading the first post:

First of all, the 2900XT has more memory. Second, it had to be in crossfire.

SLI 8800GTS'es would beat 1 x 2900XT. (I think?) It works both ways.

While the Ultra is not a heap of crap, to be brutally honest... it is not far from it! Huge price tags and a ridiculous price-to-performance ratio doesn’t make the card that attractive. Throw in the fact that a large amount of people still feel more comfortable using their Intel CPU on an Intel chipset and you really see yourself looking at Crossfire as an enthusiast setup. I know we mentioned this the other week but the bottom line is that thanks to the ridiculous price tag of the 8800Ultra it makes the HD 2900 XT smell like roses.
I know

the ultras cheaper and the price is "ridiculous" comparded to crossfire.

This is the most staged promotional article.

This is so idiculous i had to double post

We already know two ULTRA's would beat anything, because ATI hasn't release a competitor for the ULTRA yet.

With that said i don't know why you guys are complaining. If this kicks the ULTRAS ass by alot, most of you would be willing to jump off the fanboy wagon and purchase two. Most people who would buy an ULTRA would have a PSU big enough to support any card. So that isn't an issue.
Well, you seems to be forgetting that if it cost more for more power, it's pretty normal. First, one card produces less heat than 2 especially if they were high-ends card. Second, it's more likely that the Ultras is approx. $150 cheaper than 2x X2900XTs...Last but not least, I'll put it like this: I wanna buy a card that fits my performance + prices needs...I don't need too much power I just need a graphic card that is in my price range and I'll be happy...Oh hey, they are doing the review on 2x X2900XTs vs. the 8800 Ultra. This is going to be tough for me, hmmm well $780 for 2 cards, or $630 for 1 card that is slightly have lower score than the 2x cards...Wait a minute, what's that card down there, it's the 8800GTX card that is much cheaper, Yay I found my card...I'll overclocks this bad boy. Anyways, the cost is more and the score is higher...that's pretty NORMAL to me...

Don't forget about the power consumption. Pretty sure 1 8800U will consume 1/2 as much power as 2x2900XTs

Whatabout people who have $2000 in Gpu's ...lol

Yea I'm glad to see with the release of better driver's the 2900XT stacks up pretty well against a full fledged 8800GTX. I'd like to see some updated benches on the 2900 against the 8800GTS series of cards I suspect our much maligned ATI card has actually pulled ahead of the GTS series in terms of performance. AMD may actually survive, LOL.
