and you could add a second one so then you would need 4 x2900's to compete

yea sorry ati it takes two cards to beat one. But you do win $100 from that equation but you also get a card that needs a bloody power station just to run

K so this thread is basicly about
8800 Ultra > 2x 2900XT. Ultra is cheaper and takes less power so why would anyone get the XT?

That's like 100 outlets you need for that to work.

Multiple power plants just to power it... lol.
or a delorian since it has a power supply of 1.21Gigawatts of power. that way you have some more to spare for your phase change or even better yet space time distortion cooling where you transfer the heat generated from the 2900 into a different time and so your cards stay nice and cold

why would one get EITHER solution? they are both very cost ineffective, draw crap loads of power, put off lots of heat and for what?

In lower resolution or in higher with lower AA/AF 1 2900 XT beats an ultra anyways so.... anyone surprised by this must be behind.

wait a second.. my 2 8800gts 320mb's in SLI beat all of them? =o) According to my UPS I pull approximately 460watts from the wall with a wireless router, wired router, modem, network hub, and a 22in LCD. hmmmmmmm. SO $550 USD FTW?

Where are these native DX10 apps you speak of sir? Are you holding out on us?

I don't really understand why ATI fanboys are allowed to flood the thread with posts about how the 2900XT was made to compete with the GTS and it is therefore successful. Its their flagship card. It doesn't even beat the GTX, which is nVidia's second best. On top of that, its 100$ more than the GTS 640. On top of that, the 8 series was made to compete with the 7 series, and its kicking ass. So by fanboy logic, nVidia wins no matter what because this:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130082

Preforms twice as good as

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130274

this, for 100$ more?

Yea, the drivers helped. And yea, its as fast as the GTS now. Thats not some sort of accomplishment that should sway everyone towards ATI. Lets not forget all the other aspects that it lost to the GTS in. TPD, 8-pin, price, etc. etc. etc.
