Power reloop

Thread Starter
Don't know if this belongs here buts it seems most appropriate.

Yesterday there was a blackout while I was playing my sig rig, luckily I have a Backup UPS so I was able to turnoff my computer without loosing anything withing a couple minutes.
Fast forward to this morning, turned and did basic things such as email and turned off my computer to head off to work and school.

Now when I come home everything goes fine until I arrive to the login screen and suddenly my computer just restarts and its a constant loop there forth.

I reset the cmos, replugged all cables and powered off my USP but I still have the same thing happening.

Cant think of what else I could do, any suggestions?

Unplug your PSU and cycle it on/off until your finger hurts.

Yeah, it doesn't sound like a Power Supply error. You should cycle it, if that doesn't work, replace it with an test one. If it still doesn't work, keep switching components out until you find the problem. Oh, and buy a surge protector.

UPS has a surge protector as well as voltage regulation and lots of other features that no surge protector will have.

Is it possible you picked up a virus? The fact that it happens when you start up windows makes that a possibility.

Try booting up w/ a linux CD and see if it's fine from there. If it is, use linux to access your files, save anything you need, and reinstall windows.
