I heard that same line of reasoning when I bought my P4P800SE...wait for the 9XX chipsets...blah blah blah.

When a particular board is an OCer why wait? There has not been as good an OCer as the P4P800SE (865PE) until this particular board.

It's not the CPU--it's the board.

Audi has this same CPU on his Gigabyte P35 (which he is selling lol) and couldn't get crap without high temps...

It's the P5K: it's made of Win...

there is no guarantees the X38 is made of Win..none whatsoever..

I can say for a FACT that both P5K boards I have owned are awesome OCers...

Then again I am not much for waiting

Yes and as you can see in my rig what do I have, yep I cant wait either just still like saying to wait for somethat should be better on more aspects. Mainly sli.

Oh well I cant wait till I can jump to quadcore though, your setup makes me wanna do it now but must wait till price drops and hopefully the new steppings come out.

I have experienced the same sort of phenom, on both of my P5K mobo's. My Q6600 idles around 39-41c @ 1.28vcore/3ghz and the e6320 I just got, idles around 31c @ 1.33vcore/2.8ghz...

Just switching the cpu into my P5B-dlx, I get idle temps of 34c and a vcore of 1.36v on the same clock speed.

*P35 FTW! I love these mobo's so much, i am getting a third to replace the ECS 945p in my sons rig too!

LOL

Now I know what to do...I'll say: "no wait to get the 2900XT 1 GB..." after I got one..

You are EVIL.

Have you tried other temp monitors? I've tried many, and they fall into two groups: one shows 15C higher than the other.
