Speedfan temps

Thread Starter
I am using speedfan as my temp monitor because it is the only monitor that operates under x64 Vista. However i am confuse by which temp to follow. I have found out which is my cpu but do i follow that or the core temps? the screenshot is of orthos running alongside speedfan. the processor is an E6600.

Try EVEREST 2007 and see if it works.

Download and extract. No installation needed. Open the folder and click on EVEREST icon. Then click on Computer > Sensor.

CPU - DO NOT LOOK AT THIS TEMP
CPU #1 /Core #1 - LOOK AT THIS
CPU #2 /Core #2 - LOOK AT THIS

i have used everest it gets the same as speedfan. what i need to know is whether i measure my temps based on the cpu overall temp or the core temps? there is so much ambiguity on this forum about which to us and i am thus very confused.

I would say the core, which is the die and the hottest part on a CPU.

Comparing between EVEREST and SpeedFan, which is showing the same on SpeedFan and EVEREST?

I would overall trust EVEREST.

I would open the speedfan window and load the processor. The temp that changes the fastest is the proper core temp. On my speedfan the remote temp is my cpu temp. I dont know of any other way to identify the proper temp.

so i should watch the core0 and core1 temps and not the maintemp? the thing that scares me about it is that although the core temps are under 60C the overall temp is up to like 64C. should i be worried at all by this? or should i only and exclusively care about the two core temps?

This is way you should have a 32bit OS on secondary boot.

The "Core" is what you want to be looking at.

The Overall temp, which I believe you are saying the outside or surrounding of the CPU temp do not have its own sensory and can tell you faulty readings.

The die, which is the pure core, have its on sensory chip.

CPU - DO NOT LOOK AT THIS TEMP
CPU #1 /Core #1 - LOOK AT THIS
CPU #2 /Core #2 - LOOK AT THIS

CPU #1 and CPU #2 - I have 32bit OS and CoreTemp and TAT says the same as those. The CPU - the one I told you not to look at, I believe this is the overall surrounding temps and have told me faulty readings of 4C load and 32C idle.
