Linux (32Bit Ubuntu) Folding Question

Thread Starter
Hey guys... I ran SMP folding in windows xp.
Now I realize linux 32bit SMP is not supported ()
So, I know in windows w/o SMP you can run two instances.

Is that possible in linux?
I just started folding, finally got my postbit - and now I spend 99% of my time in linux. Sooooo I'd really like to fold to my fullest potential in it.

Any suggestions?

Allright now I have another issue. I can't even get 1 console working.
It wasn't running from desktop, so I followed the wiki listed by the download @ stanford, and got it running from a /folding folder.
Problem is - I get through config - and then it starts config again

/folding folder doesn't seem to be having anything other than the FAH exe.
The first time I ran it, it said something @ the top of the terminal that had something to do with not finding a file so it created it on it's own. But something tells me it didn't have admin rights (sudo?) or something and wasn't able to create it, and now it just keeps looping config.

Please help, I'd love to fold...
Oh and I figured out my OP... two clients w/ different machine ID's.

Are you trying to run windows SMP or linux SMP? On you processor you will want to only run 1 copy of SMP in order to meet deadlines. I know this affects windows SMP, but not sure about single clients, you should add -local as one of the startup switches for you FAH.exe program. That will tell the client to use the local directory for all of its config files and work files. That may be why you keep looping through the setup.

Let us know if you decided on Windows or Linux and which client you are trying to run. We should be able to figure it out from there.

Sorry forgot to mention I realized folding with SMP is impossible for me in linux due to no 32bit SMP.

So yeah, it's just console, I'll try that local trick REP+ Knitelife!

All set man, thanks! It's working. Now to make a new folder and get a 2nd copy going
