Help OCing my core 2 duo E6700?

Thread Starter
Hello all

I decided to OC my E6700 on a gigabyte 965P DQ6 motherboard with 2 gig OCZ PC2-6400 of RAM...
Now...I am confused reading about all the different settings I have to change in the bios...I was wondering, could anyone possibly give me some step by step advice on changing all those voltage values and all that?

I would like to keep ths stock cooling, so I won't be overclocking all that much...maybe a little over 3 GHz? what is advisable?

thanks so much in advance

Lyn

Do you know what PSU you have? If you are just using a Power supply that came with the case, then it's likely that it doesn't have enough power or isn't "clean" enough.

my antec p180 doesn't come with a PSU...I cannot recall what the exact brand is but is is a good 560 watt PSU...sorr but it really doesn't come to mind. As far as I'm concerned, the weakest component in my system is the graphics card, just because I'm not into games. Everything else is "good"...

I Know where they are and I can change them if that's what u mean...not that I would particularly know what the difference between 0,2 volts in vcore is though

This is what I would do, Bump fsb up to 300 and see if it posts.
You wanna get an idea of what kind of Vcore you will need.
If it doesn't post, bump the Vcore up until it does.
Once you're in Windows use a Orthos to stress the CPU, if it gives errors then you know you need a tad bit more Vcore.

Is this your board?
