Well apart from the manufacturers site you dont really want to go looking to far from the makers really. Remember that moddified BIOS's can be very hit and miss. A modified BIOS could well turn your motherboard into a paperweight.

May be more the chipset... my ASUS has the 133C..."C" version and it had to be the ver1.3 pcb if I recall correctly in which that Asus MB wes the OCer of the day. So you may have the same slightly earlier chipset which may be holding you back.
BTW, that is just specualtion!

So if I was to look for a better board for the little bro, what would it be? I would imagine he would also have to get better ram too.....like some PC2100 or PC2700 or even PC3200

Those may not be to easy to find...
The Abit NF7S ver 2 was among the best, I sold mine to Taeric along with a 2600+ moble I stepping. I believe the Abit AN7 was a great OCer too... they had the NF2 400 Ultra chip set which offered the AGP/PCI bus lock and required DDR memory.

yeah I am all for seeing how far I can get this chip to but I suspect that it will top out at 1.5-1.6ghz.....I just might as well see if I can get a chip/board/ddr ram for under 50.....might be bit of a strech though.....

Typically, those chip cores from that era were maxed in the 1500 range. My 1200 (actuall speed) and sold as such prior to the "+" rating change ran in the mid/high 1500 range.
So, your 1400+ should be @ about its max in that actual 1500MHz range too.

Correction. I took off the HSF and its a XP 2000+ that normaly operates at 1.67ghz....but since I am running @ PC100 RAM speeds it is throttled down to 12.5 x 104mhz = 1300mhz, So maybe 2ghz is feasible....if I get the right board/ram...
