tips for a new CS:S player? - Page 3

Experience builds from hours of playing. You can't get good or ahead if you just hear these tips. Say you're in front of a enemy and you need to act fast, you won't be going through page of memory of "tips" of how to react.

1.When you are shooting, if you are moving stop and crouch. This brings up acuracy, but makes you slightly easier to hit.
2.If you are using an automatic weapon, pull down slightly on the mouse while you are shooting to better control recoil.
3.Most imporatantly, if you are not doing well right away, don't give up. That game takes a lot of practice to get real good.
4.Don't forget to have fun while you are at it.

pelirrojo's post has some good tips but I disagree with the "don't try to take out awpers with a pistol/smg/rifle."

And don't trust anybody when your playing in a public server. For example, if your playing Dust 2 and theres a guy watching short and your playing long, don't expect him to actually play short, most of the time these idiots wait 2 seconds then they walk away and then the enemy comes and kills both of you.

Oh, and DO spray with the AK, just aim at the feet and the ground when you do so.

And also, if you see somebody thats facing you, DON'T CROTCH, if your moving left, tap d to immediately stop yourself and then shoot and move when nessisary. If you see somebody with their back towards you, then crotch and shoot.

Also, when you shoot an automatic, slowly mouse the mouse down as you shoot.

You might also want to type these commands into console:

cl_cmdrate 100
cl_updaterate 100
rate 25000

Play ZombieHell and quickly advance your aiming there.

Then move to playing with pistols only on Public servers for a week or two.

Then choose your favorite auto. xD

LOL, I was looking around at CS:S stuff, other than the Flash Bang/Smoke kills I saw on You tube (someone doing enough dammage to someone that they can hit them w/ a flash bang and kill them) I found These Wise tips:

Quote:
Put the enemy in the crosshairs and click the mouse buttons.

If, nay, when your teammates flash you - flash them back. The human race got to where it is today due to tit-for-tat reciprocity. If you don't have a flash, knife them at the beginning of the round. It builds character for them and for you. Blocking is an ancient tactic used in situations of mutiny. The object is to crouch next to a teammate in such a way as to make his cover non-existent. Very effective in harvesting weapons off of the 'richer' players.

In situations of clutch: panic. Spin around in circles knifing the air. This creates a protective vortex of air impenetrable by bullets. Crouch in dark areas far away from the bomb so as to protect the weapons you've horded from dead corpses throughout the round.

Do not buy a defuser kit. They are a waste of money and the company who makes them works under well lets just say 'questionable' business ethics. They often malfunction causing you to punch in the wrong code, cut the wrong wire, or stab your best friend's wife.

On cs_ maps it is important to note that most of the hostages carry quite a bit of cash with them. Apparently, the 20 or so terrorists guarding them neglected to check their wallets. This is an indication that they are not really hostages and so you are fully justified in either taking their money and/or killing them before your fellow teammates are duped into thinking they are the main objective. Remember, the main objective in all of counter-strike is dissinformation, mutiny, and a self-interested arms race.

Here is my tip: Aim at the head. I used to do pretty poorly, but when I realized you need to aim at the head, I was getting kills like crazy. It sounds simple, but it works wonders, and will allow you to kill pretty much anybody on the server.

Shoot every gun like a pistol when firing at the head.

2 main tips.

1.When you encouter an enemy immediately crouch and fire.

2.Make your crosshair scale smaller for more accurae shot. Within the console when in game or within the CS:S CFG file put in ''cl_crosshairscale 4000''
