Widescreen Benchmark? 1440x900 prefered

Thread Starter
I've been trying to find some bench marks of the newer GPUs that utilize wide screen. I know it shouldn't make a huge difference but I am fairly certain wide should use more memory and should be more for the GPU to process but I might be completely wrong there. I guess I'd just feel alot better if I could find a set of benchmarks at the res I run at.

All I can ever find is benches of the standard three display resolutions. I'd think wide screen would be common enough now days to include that as well.

Widescreen is Widescreen, Higher the resolution in any game will degrade performance, ATI & nVidia GPU's Card's utilize widescreen if necessary, but it doesn't put much load on the card, it's the same as running 1280x1024.

I find when I do benchmarks on 1440x900 compared to 1280x1024, performance is pretty much the same.

Agreed, the pixel count on 1440 x 900 and 1280 x 1024 are close enough that they could be interchanged.

It's about a 4% difference between any widescreen res and its 4:3 counter part. Widescreen always having fewer pixels to process.

It doesn't matter if it's 3:4 or 10:16 or 10:2000, they're all just ratios. All that will ever matter is the total number of pixels, not how they are arranged.
