Help -Cant see screen anymore

Thread Starter
Just after installing windows I was running the ASus CD to install all the chipset drivers etc....

While that was running I thought I might install the Nvidia 8800 drivers while Im waiting.

AS the 8800 drivers were being installed the Asus install rebooted the PC and now after the windows loading screen I cant see anything apart from a black screen.

oops!

Lesson learned but how do i get the screen back?

reboot in safe mode, so default bios drivers are loaded. then get a driver cleaner and clean up the installation then reinstall them

Does it work if you dont install the nvidia drivers and just use the default windows gfx card drivers ??

ok it works now.

I went into the menu where you choose safe mode etc and picked VGA mode.
Then installed the 158.22 drivers instead of the 168 something drivers.
Rebooted and now its ok.

you havent cleaned up the old drivers so its still using them fully clean them before you install them again. i suggest you get a driver cleaner

or since its already a new installation of xp, if your not bothered to fix it get a fresh copy of xp
