Vent from Home A/C

Thread Starter
Me and my dad where kinda joking around after I told him I got a warning message in "SiSoftware Sandra Lite XI.SP1" saying my motherboard was running hot, and he came up with the idea that since I had so many vents in my room, why dont I just take some tubing and stick it in the vent behind my computer and put the other end in the whole in the side of my case. So since we had some extra tubing laying around I decided to do so, and this is what it looks like:

(excuse my crappy camera, tis what happens when you buy a svp camera)

anywho will this help any in the long run? I pretty much cleaned out all the dust out of my case, duct taped the 1 side vent that has no fan in it and left the front and back vents in the case open. I didnt really think it would help allot since my A/C isnt always on, but I thought maybe when its on it might help keep the temp down

Well it'll help as long as the AC is on! I know my temps drop about 5*C or more when my AC is on. That might help keep it lower! That's a pretty good idea...think I'll try it. +rep!

how are temps? should be SIGNIFICANTLY lower. be worried about condensation if the temps are below ambient...maybe the CPU will be fine but the NB and SB may be getting below ambient so i would make sure you check that with a goot temp monitoring program.

umm.. he doesnt have to worry about condensation because the temps will never be below ambient

the AC lowers the ambient temp not the CPU

only holds true if the seal is airtight...throughout the whole case

there could be condensation if certain parts of the case are exposed to outside air

Yeah, there are a few threads around here with pics of people doing it. One person in particular does it every summer, I just can't remember his name ATm

Good Temp monitoring programs are Speed fan , Core temp , and TAT are the most popular. I'm sure I forgot one or two

Hope it helps

Can still get condensation. AC turns on, things in the computer that don't produce any heat start getting cooler and condensation could easily form on those, especially once the AC turns off. Next thing you know, drip, drip, sizzle.

It all depends on the dew point....Just because the temps are low doesn't mean it will auto condense...

I do it also and my temps with a Pressy sit idle 36c load 46c...When the AC is on of course hehe...

But with AC off I'm at about 39/40c idle and 50-52c load...I love that new Gemini Cooler...
