worth upgrading from 7800gtx to 8800gts????

Thread Starter
My current rig is as follows:

AMD 64 4000+ San Diego
2GB Corsair Value Select (2x1GB)
XFX 7800GTX
Abit AN8 Ultra

I am upgrading to the following at the end of the month:

Intel core 2 Duo Quad 6600
4GB Patriot Extreme (2x2GB)
Abit IP35 mobo

My question is whether its worth paying $300 for an 8800GTS and if ill see that much of a difference from my 7800GTX. I know for darn sure that I won't be paying $500 for the 8800GTX because i am just not that hardcore of a gamer. Please give me some solid advice!!!

Thanks

All I could tell you is I have a 680I board and a E6420 @ 3.4 and I have a X850XT that I bought as a interim card and I don't believe the speed at 1280/960. I would not buy another card until I ran that system with the 7800. I also would wait Until the Intel P38 boards are out which will be soon.

I was looking at the 320MB version. I paid 470 for the 7800GTX I got back in Dec 2005, and I will not be spending that much again on a vid card. 300 is my limit

If that's all you play, and you're satisfied, there's no need to get a new card.
