worth upgrading from 7800gtx to 8800gts???? - Page 3

sell the 7800gtx, and get the 8800

the 7800's are still worth a lot of money, even more than the 7900's
It will be a good performance increase for about $150

not to mention, you will find other games you like in the future.

I vote that you sit on your 7800 GTX.

Sounds like you aren't a heavy gamer, and it is probably doing fine for you now.

The DX10 Cards that are out now are getting spanked in DX10 Benchies, so I'd wait for the 8900s or whatever the next generation will be called.

Save the money and put it away for your next upgrade.

I agree to this. All the current 'DX10" cards are just kick-ass DX9 cards. If I wasn't greedy, I would've saved and waited for the next generation.

well I am gettin the quad and the 4gb of ram so i wont have to upgrade for awhile. plus the quad is dropping in price as of july 22 and ram is dirt cheap now so i figure why not. I just dont want to drop 500 on a vid card when new ones will be coming out in the relative near future that maybe be better.

Forgot about the Quad. Even more reason not to upgrade yet.

I thought more of the new gamer were going to be multithreaded to take advantage of Dual and Quad Core systems.

Without reading the other posts, IMO stick with the 7800 until the next line of DX10 cards.

Your card handles all games of the modern day fine and will still until the next gen DX10, that when you wanna spend the money.
