Overclock doesn't stay after reboot!

Thread Starter
Hey guys, I recently bought a BFG 8600 GTS OC 256mb and I've been trying to overclock it but having bee having some issues. I'm using ATI Tool to do the overclock and I can get it to 730Mhz core and 2230Mhz memory, but after I reboot my computer it goes back to the stock settings!! I thought it might have to do with nvidia's ntune(their OC program) so i uninstalled it but still the same.

Any ideas why it keeps resetting to default speeds after reboot or how to fix it?

You need to make sure you are saving the new profile and when you turn your computer on, open ATItool and load the overclocked profile.

Well I saved the profile, but do I really need to load it every time I reboot my PC? Isn't there a way that you can make the settings stick through a reboot?

Yes, in ATI's settings, you can have it load on Windows startup

BTW, I recommens Riva tuner for vid card overclocking

Not that I know of, since you can't modify the default profile.
I only load up my overclocked profile when I'm going to use it anyway...save a little on power and such.
But honestly, there's no reason to run your graphics card overclocked unless you're playing a game. So when you're not...just keep it at default.

You gotta save the current clock or something. I recommend using Coolbits to OC on a Nvidia card....

You can also set it to hotkeys in ATI tool, that's kinda cool.
