Hi, this is my first post and hoping somone can give some good advice here.

I just purchased two 8800GTS's and a OCZ gameXstream PSU (700w)

Will this power supply work with my setup?

2 x WD 320GB HD's in RAID 0 (mirror)
1 x DVD/RW
5200+ @ 2808

Yep. But most of the Johnny Guru fanboys will probably come in here, totally bash the PSU saying how it useless, and rant and rave about the shaky 12v rail.

Welcome to Overclock dot net!

And yes, that's a good PSU And 700w should provide the power needed to run your computer.

I think the review is old, and it's been a while since the review was posted. I'm sure it's fixed. my 600w is doing fine.

I think that the GPU is going to bottleneck your cpu unless you are running at a high resolution, i.e. 1600x1200 or higher. If you are running lower res, you overkill on the GPU.

EDIT: Welcome to OCN.

Great thanks for the quick input! The only thing that concerns me is the 18amps on the 12v rails. Does anyone know how many amps the 8800GTS pull in SLI mode? Also I will be upgrading monitors, I have a 19" LG running 1280x1024. Any recommendations on a good 22-24" widescreen that will compliment the 8800's in SLI? Think I will wait for the AM3 before upgrading processors.

well i have a sli 8800 320mb setup. and most ive pulled is right around 460watts utilizing a 3dmark06 run. most of the time it hovers between 380-400 during gaming.

460 watts are roughly 38.3 amps for system doing a 3dmark06 bench.

400 watts are roughly 33.3 amps for the system under normal gaming.

keep in mind these are #'s coming from my UPS which also have a 22in LCD on it as well which im assuming is around 30-50 of those watts. Actually if i unplug everything and turn my monitor on w/o a picture its 35watts.

heres a forumala

Amps = Watts/Voltage

Amps x Voltage = Watts

Yep. I had that same exact setup (2x GTS + 700w OCZ). You will be fine.
