You're welcome.

I think the penetration rate is pretty healthy. I can't wait to see what will happen over the next few years.

So I guess instead of losing over 200 dollars for every unit sold, theyre going to lose over 300 dollars. Quit the gambit but it seems to be working.

the ps3 is not overpriced in my opinion for what you get. I had no problem dishing out the money because one it has blu-ray, built in wireless, and non proprietary hard drive. When you add the simple features the ps3 has to the xbox it is more expensive. Am i knocking the xbox no i like it alot as well. If you are in the market for an hd media center out of the box with exception to cables then get a ps3. But then again you have to look at what kinds of games you liike cause they generally carry different genres.

Also this price cut will i think effect alot of people who were on the fence as which to get. Alot of people who wanted ps3's but couldnt afford them yet might now swing that way definately. And also now that its cheaper and microsofts faliure rate is showing its tru colors that could sway people as well.

In the long run both will be around for a long time and who cares which one sells more as long as the games you want come out and you can play them.

The PS3 isn't their only source of revenue, though. I don't think it's a gambit at all. They probably make plenty of money on their other products to compensate. They just aren't optimizing their overall profit.

The lens for BluRay, i think it was sharp/panasonic/some other company cant remember what company it was, nywyz, they lowered the cost for the lens quite a bit and also faster and larger production was made possible a few months back, so that plays 'probably' a $20 difference right there, combine that with production scaling up ( i think it has increased, again not sure, 8 hours in a lab, so a bit brain-dead, please excuse me) will make quite a difference, i reckon about 60 or so ... imo

A lot of vocal people here (myself included) do have HDTVs (I have two!) And I never advocate throttling things down to placate the masses who don't have the latest tech. But it is important to recognize that they exist, and that they outnumber us...by a lot.
so out of all the people in america i believe, video game penetration is only 40-45% so 35% having HD fits in line with that. Game aren't cheap, so if they are willing to spend on PS3's/360's i'm sure they'll spend a few bucks for a capable tv too.

Anyway, go PS3.. It's a great little machine if you have an HDTV.. Which I don't so I went Wii
No, because the prices for many of the PS3 components, most notably the blu-ray diode, have dropped in price.

Thats what happens when your system uses bleeding edge techonology. Its not bleeding edge for long and drops in price. The Blu-ray diode has come down DRAMATICALLY in the time the PS3 was out.

Whats wrong with a standard DVD? They may not be as super hi-quality but your paying a lot of money now instead of waiting 6 months
For movies, sure, DVD is fine. But games are getting bigger. Plenty of PS2 games had no problem filling a dual-layered dvd disc. This means they NEED a bigger media device. Say hello to blu-ray.
