All that proves is that Sony can prevail with an inferior product. Just think the success they could have with something head and shoulders above its competition!

Anyone who creates a stir by posting his opinions on how a product that was released 8 months ago will eventually succeed doesn't know what irony is.

While I agree that the PS3 will eventually be a success...the article you posted is simply NOT news. It's an opinion piece, pure and simple. I am therefore moving it into the gaming forum.

I agree with you completely that the PS3 will be a success. But success in the video game market doesn't mean beating out every other system.

I disagree that people will tire of the Wii. I blew about 500 dollars the day the Wii came out. Which I could have easily picked up a PS3 for the same price. But I WANTED the Wii. When Super Smash Bro's comes out on the Wii, it's going to be all that's talked about. The new Resident Evil soon to be released. New Final Fantasy games. Graphics aren't everything. And never will be. The PS3 will succeed. But I'm sure the Wii will also. Wii's already proven it's potential in sales.

Hardly.... its the same just idea but with different items... sony will fail, it just costs to much for most people to buy. I think you don't understand most people don't have the kind of money to spend on an AWESOME computers like (much) of the people on OCN can. Most people can just go out to the store and justify +$4000 on home entertainment.

Now you will tell me that the PS3 doesnt cost $4000, I know this, but what about the HD TV (that not even I have) you will need and the countless blu-ray movies.... it just costs way to much for people to afford. The people who can afford it will probably want to save a good amount of money by picking HD-DVD. You must realize not many people know the difference between HD-DVD and blu-ray.

So if people don't know any better why would they pick HD-DVD? Is it just because HD-DVD players are cheaper atm?? HD-DVD movies cost the same as blu-ray. And the lowest price HD-DVD player is actually borderline garbage. So if anyone with money was going to get an HD-DVD player, odds are theyre not going to jump on the cheapest Toshiba they can find.

You're very anti-Sony. Everything you post bashes the company yet you never back it up with any substance. I suggest you sit down with a PS3 for a little while. Maybe then you'd have some credibility.

Once you have watched a HDMI 1.3 bluray movie on a HDMI 1.3 compatible TV...there is no going back. The color depth and picture is mind boggling.

The Xbox 360? HDMI 1.2 WITH the new Xbox only. Old Xbox 360, component out. Also, when you factor in the cost of the HD-DVD player and the 100$ price drop on the PS3 coupled with the high 360 failure rate...it's not so cut and dry. M$ will need to fight to win this one. It's not going to be handed to them on a silver platter.

QFT.

I was taking a look at some of the Toshiba HD-DVD players. The two cheaper ones aren't worth getting IMO. Their high-end one however looks real nice, but its still around $600-700. Like you said, with the price drop with the PS3...I mean it's such a sweet deal for all that you get.
