First Complete System and Overclock [Please Comment!]

Thread Starter
Ok this is my first ever computer that i built myself and after asking alot of stupid questions on the net and on this forum i was finally able to get it working and start overclocking. Specs can be found in my sig.

well here is a few pictures

my first stable attempt was at 460x7 at 1.425v in BIOS.

IDLE temp was around 21/20c. The rest can be found here

3Dmark06 at this stage is 9408 from 7800 stock

http://service.futuremark.com/orb/pr...jectId=2366284

i cant get it to be stable past 460, i can boot but orthos cant stablize for long hours, so i asked some more dumb questions and decided to lap my BT, reseat my BT and buy a NB cooler.

My lapping job was a complete failure, so i decided to leave it as it is, its better than stock i i guess its ok. i applied a thin layer of AS5 in a line in the middle of the CPU and stuck on my HR-05 and put everything back together.

I ran at 485x7 at 1.475v in BIOS and i was able to get orthos stable for more than 10 hours.

My temps are alot better now so i guess reseating and lapping was effective afterall.

my 3Dmark06 score went up to 9489

i was able to oc my GTS to 690/1050 but that doesnt belong here, my final 3Dmark06 was 10926

if anyone have any suggestion and comments please feel free to post them, im really trying hard to get to 500fsb, also i realised that my chip is really odd, it its batch/fpo format is really werid not like the ones you guys have, doesnt start with a letter, i think its made in costa rica.

this is my first time overclocking, ill post a pic of my bios soon, i know i have alot to learn thanx alot in advance!!!

Awesome job
Cable management if possible would be my only suggestion.

yea i got a whole bag of zip ties from the guy who sent me the lapping kit. however my case is extremely small and i cant be stuffed to do any cable management at all lol can barely fit my hand around everything.
tidying the cables would help with cooling as there would be less obstructions for the air to pass through
post #8 of 11
Nice build, cheap chassis rule.

Congrats on your first build. A realy nice pc if you ask me.

Hey regz have you ever heard of something called "Cable Mangment?"

Well it's your best friend. Not only does it produce better airflow but it will circulate more air therefor your components are cooler plus when you open the case you won't feel like you are in the amazon

Here is what i did with my build tuck the cables behind the motherboard tray. Full build log is in my sig
