Can someone help me out here? D/l problem

Hi guys, I'm hoping someone can help me. I'm having problems getting the Windows SMP client to download correctly. Same problem I had before, always tells me CRC data section of the download is bad. Taidinh was kind enough to post it up for me last time, and I want to get the new version, but can't. Does it on all my rigs, no matter how many times I try, and now I've read of some other people also getting this problem. I can download the Linux or regular console clients no problem, but the Windows SMP one just will not go right. I have no other connection or downloading issues whatsoever, so I have no clue why me and some others cannot download this file successfully.

So can someone post up the new one for me pretty please ?

I don't remember what I provided you last time.

Currently, many users are experience the July 1st SMP expire date. A newer version of SMP has been released, but the version # did not change.

http://www.stanford.edu/%7Ekasson/fo...P%20Client.EXE

Is that your problem? Kinda late and I can easily get confused.

EDIT: http://www.overclock.net/overclock-n...crc-error.html

AH! That thread. What was it that I gave you... I think you downloaded SMP off the website but it didn't work, but I had one a a week back and gave it to you.

Is this what you need?

Do you have the same type of zip extraction program on both computers? The file is a self extracting executable. Whatever program you have installed on the systems to handle zip type files may be causing the issue. Another option is a virus scanner that is messing with the file.

I zipped up the executable. Try unzipping it, and then running the program.

Ya thanks knitelife! That worked I got it now, weird that it just won't let me and some other people, download it from Stanford. It downloads it and says it goes correctly, but when I try and install, I get that dang CRC error every time. It's the only thing that doesn't work, so I don't think it's me, plus seeing it happen to other people. Anyway thanks man, this will get rig3 going again. Thanks for the help guys!

Ooops, sorry, realized I never answered your questions. Ya it's weird I don't know why it does it. I just use XP and Vista's own extracters, and I never have a problem with anything else. It's not my antivirus (AVG) either, I can disable it and even shut down any process related to it, still doesn't work. The only other things in common really, are my router and internet connection. Strangest thing is, how can they be called a problem when everything else I do works stably, and all other downloads/unzips go perfectly fine?

I don't know, just strange man, and then I googled some other people having same issue, trying all kinds of fixes but nothing works. I swear it's not us though, it's some kind of weirdness with the Stanford server or connection. For me and these other people, to have it be the only file we can't d/l correctly, that tells me the problem is elsewhere, logic kind of says so. Anyway thanks again knitelife for posting that up, rig3 is back online .
