um, you should really test the stability longer then ten minutes try about an hour... I'd push for 3Ghz... but go slowly...

ah Thanx bud, yea, its still running(Orthos) and i will test for an hour more....but, why some members have reduced the CPU Multiplier from 10 ??

and My cabinet is an Antec series with 2x120mm intake, 1x120 mm rear outlet,1x200mm outlet(top)/....

To achieve a higher FSB. By dropping the multiplier the CPU limitation is taken out of the equation.

Example:

Let's say you push your FSB up to 400MHz with a multiplier of 10. This will have your CPU running at 4.0GHz (400x10=4000MHz)

Now, let's say that you start running into stability/heat issues at this point in your overclock.

You still have the option of dropping your multiplier to 9, giving you 9x400MHz or 3.6GHz and possibly some more FSB headroom.

There is more to it than that in practice but that is the basic principle.

To be honest I'd shoot straight for 333FSB, though you may need to raise vCore slightly.

The reason EIST and C1E interfere with stable overclocks is down to the fact that they dynamically lower the voltage aswell as the mulplier in an effort to save power. This is fine at stock and low overclocks but higher overclocks require a constant flow of voltage without EIST/C1E lowering it. There's no way I'd be able to keep my current E6600 running at 3.6Ghz if EIST/C1E were lowering the voltage.

As already stated, to attain higher FSB which offers more overall performance throughout the system. As an example, a system with CPU with 450FSB x8 is more desireable than a CPU running 400FSB x 9.This is because the FSB doesn't just affect the performance of the CPU itself, it also has an impact on the CPU's communication with the system RAM.

Hey thanks bud, that explains alot why i slam into a wall at 3.6 but run perfectly fine under 3.57ghz on my E6600

What all coolings u guys use???

My cabinet is an Antec series with 2x120mm intake, 1x120 mm rear outlet,1x200mm outlet(top)/....and the usual CPU Fan and a copper railings(stock)

No problem. I'm useing the x9 multiplier of my E6600, and 400FSB, to keep my RAM running 1:1. Though I'm having to run 1.55v through my CPU and NorthBridge to do this.

I'm currently useing a Tuniq Tower with two 120mm chassis fans. Good airflow and cooling is paramount in order to maintain stability under load.

Hey Redbull, welcome to the P5N32-E club!

Don't worry about the multiplier, with this board it really doesn't help, most of the time it just doesn't work.

I would recommend just putting it to 3.0 and leaving it there unless the temps are too high (about 50 degrees C under full load) or until you get better cooling.

I would recommend also setting your CPU voltage to "auto" northbridge to "auto"
southbridge "auto" and CPU VTT to 1.55 volts.

for testing, I would recommend doing a little orthos, mostly just to determine your load temps, but I would go with playing some Company of Heros, Doom 3 or Supreme commander. My preference is CoH and just running the benchmark. who says overclocking has to be all benchmarking and stress testing and no play?

depends.

1. Are you going to overclock the RAM?

2. what model RAM do you have (write it in your Sig)

3.your manufacturer will tell you what the voltage should be, I have mine sligthly overclocked, and they recommend 2.1, I have mine at 2.2 volts.
