Is Socket 775 and LGA 775 the Same?

Ok guys so i'm doing a C2D build with the 1.8ghz allendale cpu and i'm going to be overclocking it. I know the stock cooler is plenty strong for a reasonable OC but i have a Zalman CNPS7000B and i wanted to transfer it into the Core 2 motherboard.

Will I be able to do that? I was thinking of taking that cpu from 1.86Ghz to about 3.0Ghz is that to high for a stock cooler or what would you guys recommend

Yes, it's the same thing. It will work on the near ancient 915P chipset boards, and the latest X38 chipset boards. Its all physically the same.

Yeah, they're the same. You can call it Socket LGA 775 as well.

socket 775 is LGA

LGA only notifies the type of cpu, while the socket 775 notifies the classification.

all socket 775 cpus are LGA (land grid array)

I don't know, it looks pretty tough to make.

1. You can try to get a hold of a piece of plastic or something and trace out the screw holes.

2. Then cut out the inside with a dremel tool, being careful to leave a good amount of plastic to drill into for the screws.

3. Cut out the outside in the same manner.

4. Drill holes that are larger than the mounting screws for the four corner screws, they need to thread into the metal nuts not the plastic.

5. Cut out holes for the two screws holding the cooler to the bracket you just made. They just need to be pilot holes, so they have to be smaller than the screw's you will be using.

OR

buy the bracket off xoxide.com, and use that as an excuse to order some other cooling stuff!
