Coolit Freezone on Pentium D

Thread Starter
So i just got my coolit freezone cooler in the mail yesterday and i hooked it up to my 805. What i've noticed is that the cooler is actually ideling at a higher temp than my zalman CNPS 9500AT. I'm rather confused on why this is since i've followed the instructions correctly in the manual. My intial thought is that the fan isn't moving enough air from the radiator, even despite it being on the max setting. My other thought is that the ambient temperature in the room is too high and therefore causing the cooler to run hotter than usual. Below is my ambient temp as well as the temperatures reported for the core from my ASUS motherboard (i know it's rather in accuarte, but this will have to do until i get a thermometor in my room down here.) Any suggestions, tweaks or ideas are greatly appreciated. If no solution comes up I'm going to go ahead and reccomend you not purchase this product since it's poor preformance, but this could all be because of my 805 furnace that's running below it.

Ambient T: 28 C

CPU T: 39-41 C idle

*note i did not include the load temps yet since I'm not at my computer and i haven't stress tested since the idle temps are not much better than before. If you think those should be included now i'll be glad to give them to you later.

Need load temps. Idle is useless for us.

And I believe with the Coolit it'll idle a little higher than most high-end air coolers, but the load is where the Coolit takes over.

Alright i'll post the load temps as soon as i get home. Remember this is at stock frequency for now since i need a bigger PSU before i can OC since 500watts isn't cutting it!

Also, what do you guys think a typical/good ambient temp is? Second, does this ambient temp sound feasible? Finally, how can i improve my ambient temp other than literally putting an air conditioner next to it?

Yeah isn't that the cooler with the TEC that jumps into action when the CPU goes under load?

Yep.

And a 28°C ambient is fine. I think my ambient during the summer is around the same. And you really can't lower the ambient unless you lower the temps everywhere around you(that means outside). Using an AC next to it may be the only way to get a lower ambient.

Ok so i just checked it under load for like 10 minutes it was running at 57-58 C which is pretty high at stock... Further, when i booted it up since it was cold it idled at about 33 C and now it's idling at about 47 C

I think that load temperature is a bit high shouldn't it be A LOT colder lke 50 C under load... i don't see the fan ever increasing speed either i wonder if it's defective...

Did you seat it right?

The coolzone wins when your under load over the air ones. My friend has one for his quad core (not oc) and his load temps are under 45c, and idles in the mid 35s.

I think there is a switch on the Freezone that will allow you to change the fan speed in it. Make sure it is running on 'High' the entire time. Reviews I have read of it say that if you don't keep it on that setting, you may fry your CPU.
