Most people don't use thermal paste on the ICs, if you are going to, use something thick like Arctic Creamique.

My DDR2 Dominators can heat up after a couple hours of gaming, but they don't get as hot as my old XMS2 sticks. I guess I will clean the AS5 off and try to re-apply the heatpads. I do plan to overclock the memory above spec so the thinking "just in case" comes to mind.


I didn't think there was any significance to the thickness of the pads, since when I took the heatsink off they looked compressed.

Not sure if i'd about it mate. I had a temp sensor on the memory after doing the as5 thing and the change in temp on the mem is pretty low. so low it could even be attributed to surrounding components. I'll do it again on my current new build and post what I find.
