I've never been a console person.

The consoles were cool but were more of a distraction. the 64 was the last console I actually sat down and played.

It seems for every console game we got for christmas a friend of the family introduced a new, better p.c. game. We had a nintendo in our basement, I found command and conquer, the SNES came along and Duke Nukem/Quake 2 were introduced to me. We got zelda for N64 and my dad's friend gave me a burnt copy of Total annihilation. My aunt gave us a ps2 and I got half-life.

Which brings me to where I am, in an apartment with another Comp Sci. Major who has played almsot every console game known to man (and continues to go back and play them).

After not touching a console for years, living with them, you kinda appreciate them, but they're not something I would ever spend money on. We have a wii and a ps2. The Wii's a nice console, but there doesn't seem to be any decent games for it. Zelda got boring (only 1 of my friends has beaten it, my roomates girlfriend is forcing herself to get through it), wii sports was probably the best title. Wii play was a disappointment and mario party is kinda fun. Other then those there isn't much else.

The PS2 has some cool titles, but nothing that blows me away.

On my computer I have every game I could possibly wish to play, Rainbow Six, Graw, Company of Heroes, Neverwinter Nights. Top quality titles of every genre, all lan-able. We don't have to worry about controller batteries, about paying monthly fee's for multiplayer, having enough t.v.'s so someone isn't stuck with a 6"x6" square, or screen watching. We hook up and play with eachother.

Between all of us we have access to an almost unlimited amount of titles, and if we don't like the game there's usually a mod around for it to make it more enjoyable. With the computer also comes all that persons music, pictures, etc so we have other things to laugh at.

I guess I was raised a pc person, and although the newer consoles have some knock-out titles that I'd absolutely love to try, I jsut can't jsutify spending the cash on the console for only 2 or 3 games. I might pick one up in a few years, but until then my p.c. is all I need, it does everything (except cook for me).

What I will say is that currently there seems to be a surge in quality console titles while the p.c. market is witnessing a dip. You can play WoW or you can not play Wow are you choices these days. However in the coming months we've got some really good stuff brewing up.

What I will give to consoles is the quality of the newest handhelds. The DS and PSP are both fantastic devices. Of course the main attraction to each is homebrew apps, but there's some really nice titles for those and they fill an area where I'd like to game, but don't have access to my p.c. I jsut need 1 or 2 more titles to push me into a purchase and I'll more then happily pay for one.

Christ that was a long post
